Who discovered the color of all Seven Chakras?

What Are Chakras?

The concept of chakras originates from ancient Indian spiritual traditions, particularly within Hinduism and Buddhism. In the spiritual world, chakras are believed to be the energy centers in human body. These chakras are aligned along the spine, starting from the base of the sacrum bone to moving up to the Crown Chakra (top of the head). Each is associated with specific physical, emotional, and spiritual functions.

The Association of Rainbow Colors with Chakras:

The association between chakras and the colors of the rainbow is attributed to Western thinkers in the 20th century. An astral author Charles Webster Leadbeater, added the seven rainbow colors to the chakra system in 1927. In the 1930s, a variant system having six colors of rainbow for the lower chakras plus a white color for the crown chakra was proposed.

Are chakras having colors mentioned in the Vedas?

Vedas samhitas have no hymns about chakras. The four Vedas—Rig, Sama, Yajur, and Atharva Samhitas are meant to be recited or sung during specific rituals. However, this does not mean that in Vedic times people did not know about chakras.
The concept and description of chakras are mentioned in the later texts, the Yoga Shastra such as the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, and tantric texts.
Even these texts only describe chakras as energy centers and do not provide any information on the chakras having specific colors. The association of colors with chakras is a concept of modern development and is not found in the Vedic texts.

Sahaja Yoga’s Perspective on the color of the Chakras:

The most recent theory of Chakras having colors was given by the founder of Sahaja Yoga, H.H. Mataji Shri Nirmala Devi Ji, in 1970.
Sahaja Yoga is the most modern and unique system to have spiritual enlightenment and balance in life.
In Sahaja Yoga, the color of each chakra is different from the prevailing rainbow color scheme of chakras. As per Sahaja Yoga, the color of every chakra is associated with its fundamental quality and power, not merely its depiction or conjecture.
Here’s a breakdown of the colors for each chakra:

In meditation, a Sahaja Yoga practitioner can feel their chakras pulsating with the cool breeze in both the palms and at the Crown Chakra (top of the head).

Its a validation of having the connection with the All Pervading Power that surrounds each one of us. The power that runs the cosmos is prompt to reveal all the answers to a curious mind. With these cool breezes, the color of the chakras can also be cross-checked.

Sahaja Yoga focuses on enlightening the subtle system within the human body, which consists of chakras and channels of energy. With the Kundalini awakening, the chakras get purified and balanced, leading to a state of self-realization, inner peace, and connection with the divine.
The practice involves meditation, self-reflection, and the use of affirmations to cleanse and balance the chakras, leading to overall well-being and spiritual growth.
